Separate identity of the Kayong region (the southern portion of West Kalimantan)
[edit]The much neglected quarter of West Kalimantan lacks adequate coverage. It equates to the Ketapang Regency (including the now separate North Kayong Regency). There is little coverage of this region; it is totally ignored by all the guidebooks to the province, which concentrate exclusively on the Pontianak zone, with a limited coverage of the areas to the north (Sambas) and to the inland empire of the Kapuas catchment area (Kapuas Raya). Yet Kayong is as isolated from the administration in Pontianak as is the Kapuas Raya region, which is why coverage is so limited, and the same requirement for identification as a potential separate province. I have expanded the Ketapang Regency article somewhat, but hopefully more can be added. Rif Winfield (talk) 08:27, 23 March 2026 (UTC)
