Past news personalities

For a few of them, I don't know their current whereabouts; but for a few of them, I put their last known whereabouts after leaving KCRA. If anyone knows more, please feel free to update the info... Ranma9617 01:45, 22 September 2006 (UTC)

Edie Lambert seems to have dissapeared from KCRA since the fall of last year or so, Adrianne Bankhurt replacing her it seems, though Edie does appear in a kcra blood drive promo ad. The KCRA 3 Experience

The KCRA 3 Experience has closed it is now a Verizon store

That doesn't mean it shouldn't be in the article. The content you removed (which I reverted) clearly stated that it is now closed. Just because it doesn't continue to broadcast there, doesn't mean that all information about former broadcasts there should be removed. Killiondude (talk) 23:01, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

Article name change

Wrong Year

At the part when KCRA added "moreTV", The year is wrong. KCRA added that channel in 2010, NOT in 2008.173.31.64.147 (talk) 20:06, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Adding unreferenced entries of former employees to lists containing BLP material

Hello, Please do not add unreferenced names as entries to a list of former employees in articles. Including this type of material in articles does not abide by current consensus and its inclusion is strongly discouraged in our policies and guidelines. The rationales are as follows:

1. WP:NOT tells us, Wikipedia is "not an indiscriminate collection of information." As that section describes, just because something is true, doesn't necessarily mean the info belongs in Wikipedia.
2. As per WP:V, we cannot include information in Wikipedia that is not verifiable and sourced.
3. WP:NLIST tells us that lists included within articles (including people's names) are subject to the same need for references as any other information in the article.
4. Per WP:BLP, we have to be especially careful about including un-sourced info about living persons.

If you look at articles about companies in general, you will not find mention of previous employees, except in those cases where the employee was particularly notable. Even then, the information is not presented just as a list of names, but is incorporated into the text itself (for example, when a company's article talks about the policies a previous CEO had, or when they mention the discovery/invention of a former engineer/researcher). If a preexisting article is already in the encyclopedia for the person you want to add to a list, it's generally regarded as sufficient to support their inclusion in list material in another article. 70.48.216.22 (talk) 00:10, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

• Kelly Broadcasting could be linked when Kelly is first mentioned.
• "Citing continued consolidation, Kelly Broadcasting concluded it could not become large enough to compete." This raises the question in my mind about what consolidation and what are they competing with.
  • Consolidation of station groups and leverage with networks and program distributors.

Kelly Broadcasting ownership

• "giving KCRA the nod" This wording feels a bit too informal.
• "On November 22, 1950, KCRA, Inc.—the owner of the KCRA radio stations at 1320 AM and 94.1 FM—filed an application with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for a new television station in Sacramento, seeking to broadcast on channel 6.[4] Channel 6 was reserved for non-commercial educational use when the FCC lifted its multi-year freeze on new TV stations in 1952." Presumable the application for channel 6 was knocked back then? Could this be stated? And when did the FCC freeze start? Was it before or after the application for channel 6?
  • The freeze started in 1948, but some new applications were filed during then awaiting the end of the freeze. It was when the freeze ended that the new table of allocations was set. All the groups that had applied for channels no longer allocated to their communities had to amend for some other channel that was.
• "Within years". How about "Within a few years"? Just to give a better sense of how many years.
• " Ewing Kelly died in 1960, and his widow Nina and sons Robert and Jon formed the Kelly Broadcasting Company." There are a few inconsistencies between this and the article on Kelly Broadcasting Company, which says the company was formed in 1944. Is that wrong?
  • I believe so. The name "Kelly Broadcasting" does not get printed up either in the Sacramento papers or Broadcasting until 1962. Which makes sense if you consider the Kellys didn't own the whole thing until then. That article will need attention.
• "The KCRA studio complex was expanded by 48,000 square feet (4,500 m2) in the mid-1980s" This makes me wonder what the original studio complex size was.
  • Not in the source, I'm afraid.
• "plow money back into the news operation." This wording also feels a bit too informal.
• "which by the time they aired on the West Coast were three hours old" -> "which were three hours old by the time they aired on the West Coast"
• "KCRA produced news talent that went on to fame in larger markets." -> "KCRA has produced news talent that went on to fame in larger markets."

The article we have on this is Blackout (broadcasting), which I don't think is helpful or idiomatic and spends most of its time talking about sports. This would be understood by most people.
