‘Jewish’

PLEASE can someone find me ONE textual quote to support this oft-repeated claim that he is Jewish on his mother's side. I've only read the first book and it was a while ago, so forgive me if it IS mentioned in the novels, but it is NOT mentioned in the show. Happy to be corrected, just don't like this un-evidenced claim repeatedly cropping up.
