I'm thinking of trying to do some work on this page – adding more independent reliable sources and citations, expanding the text and so on. If I were to do so I would change the remaining in-text references to the list-defined system – references defined in the reference section, not in the text – and to hand-written refs (without cite templates), both changes for the sake of clarity and simplicity. DYK

It's just a little late to worry about it, but the DYK statement that ".. there were an estimated 580,000 Jamnapari goats in India"| is not supported by the cited source (Acharya 1982), which states clearly that there were 0.58 million goats in the breeding area of the Jamnapari, but makes no claim that all were of this breed.
