Interstate 80 Business (Sacramento, California) → Capital City Freeway – More people call it Capital City Freeway. I rarely hear people say Interstate 80 Business. 2600:1700:6180:6290:B0B4:900C:ED8:6264 (talk) 20:13, 13 September 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose for now. A "I rarely hear people say" WP:OR-sounding argument is no substitute for actual citations to verify that substantially more people, especially in the Sacramento area, only refer to this as the "Capital City Freeway" instead of also using "Interstate 80 Business", "I-80 Business", "Business 80" or some similar variation. Unlike those in Southern California, people in Sacramento and most of Northern California generally refer to freeways by their route numbers instead of their freeway names. And while some recent articles in The Sacramento Bee may just mention "Capital City Freeway" in their headlines, they are not always reliable sources per WP:HEADLINES due their goal of being brief as possible, and those articles have to also mention/clarify that the freeway is also known as "Business 80" in the body text. Therefore, I would prefer to error on the currently stable, status quo title. Zzyzx11 (talk) 23:55, 13 September 2025 (UTC)
- oppose I'm leaning oppose but am open to debate. Doing a quick search Capitol City Freeway is indeed more common in local headlines, but the articles themselves almost always also use some form of "Business 80" in article text. So I'm not convinced either one is more common in local use. However, to me the more important factor is regionalism. "Interstate 80 Business (Sacramento, California)" is a 100% unambiguous title to anybody. While someone living in Northern California is likely to know which road is being referred to with "Capitol City Freeway", someone who lives on the US East Coast may see a title like "Capitol City Freeway" and think it refers to, say Interstate 395 (Virginia–District of Columbia), or any other number of eligible candidates for that rather ambiguous title.
