Peri-implantitis
[edit]peri-implantitis would mean inflammation of the implant!! What that does that mean? At the most it could be inflammation of the bone or the soft tissues that cover it, including periosteum. BDB 17:04, 17 September 2005 (UTC)

- When searching pubmed, the term per-implantitis seems to be in use but almost exclusively for dental implants. --WS 13:48, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
Merge with prosthesis

Possible Sections to Improve
[edit]Overall, I believe that the "Implant (medicine)" article has to be updated to incorporate information, such as the FDA classification of medical devices since implants fall under medical devices. The improvements that I would like to make pertain to the section: Complications. I would like to further expand on the human body response to implants as well as considerations that biomedical engineers and manufacturers have to take into consider when choosing the proper materials for implants. – I had originally tagged Implant, a disambiguation page, as a WP:DABCONCEPT since there seems to be a clear primary topic for this term. However, I tagged the page not actually looking at the list of articles in the disambiguation page; turns out the article I was looking for is currently at Implant (medicine). In other words, it seems that the medical sense is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC to a point where searching the base title and arriving at disambiguation page can be seen as a WP:SURPRISE. - Support per nom. While Implant (body modification) may get more traffic than Implant (medicine) alone, it is disingenuous to ignore the individual and combined traffic to all the pages that are subtopics of Implant (medicine). Massviews shows that Cochlear implant, Breast implant, and Dental implant all average >600 views/day and collectively the various medical implant articles see the overwhelming majority of traffic. WikiNav shows that 5 of the 6 destinations readers navigate to from the Implant dab page are medical implants, with Implant (medicine) being the second most popular destination. Implant (body modification) sees no traffic from the dab page. (Side note: No idea why Hygiene sees so much traffic from the dab page…) —Myceteae🍄🟫 (talk) 18:15, 20 December 2025 (UTC)
