Location of New Hall amended

New Hall where Henry Power lived is at Elland near Halifax, West Yorkshire not Ealand in Lincolnshire. The hall still exists and is a Grade I listed building. The refs. 1 and 2 cited in the 'Henry Power' entry use an old spelling variant 'Ealand' for Elland and may have caused the uncertainty in ref. 1 as to whether Ealand in Lincolnshire was being referred to. Birth date corrected to 1626 from 1623. The 1626 date is cited by the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. J T Hughes in his 'Henry Power of Halifax', pub. Rimes House 2010 page 6 notes this is the 'more likely'.David1956 (talk) 07:19, 2 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
