Haribhadra

[edit]@Bishonen: can you move this page to "Haribhadra," per Cort (1998) p.11, and per Wiki-policy on no honorifics? Regards, Joshua Jonathan - Let's talk! 06:26, 13 October 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for your note and for considering best practices for article titles. While "Acharya" is clearly an honorific that Wikipedia policy recommends omitting from titles, "sūri" is indeed a term traditionally used for accomplished Jain scholars but can also serve as a professional or technical designation rather than strictly an honorific.
- In the case of Haribhadra, most academic sources and standard Jain usage refer to him as "Haribhadrasūri" to distinguish him from other historical figures named Haribhadra, and "sūri" serves almost as a monastic identifier. Therefore, changing the article title to "Haribhadrasūri"—omitting "Acharya"—balances both scholarly conventions and Wikipedia's guidance against honorifics, while retaining clarity and disambiguation. - I see. Yet, Cort, Chapple and Dundas all use Haribhadra. The name "Haribhadra" also seems to be used more common on Wikipedia, not "Haribhadrasuri." So, I'd prefer simply "Haribhadra." Regards, Joshua Jonathan - Let's talk! 10:00, 13 October 2025 (UTC)
