Death date

[edit]

His death was reported on 13 January, but the BBC report says that he "died in hospital in Bath earlier in the week". This suggests to me that he died earlier than 13 January - otherwise the news report would have said he died "yesterday". So, an update may be required when there is more information. Gerry Cottle

[edit]

you have missed out his time with Embassy Circus & the fact that his first circus was in partnership with Brian Austin & was originally Embassy Circus they brought the show & renamed it Cottle & Austin & it ran for quite a few years. Both Gerry & Brian ran the Moscow state Circus & the Chinese State Circus. There first headquarters was a farm in Cricklade Wilts which my uncle Tony Luke (Gutteridge) who had known Brian Austin since he was a lad with the Count, did the bidding for them as they thought their bids wouldn't be taken seriously as they were both still what they thought too young. I had many happy times visiting them with Tony out on the road & at the farm & drove my first really big wagon with two trailers behind at the age of 13 when visiting them one night & Tony had got the dates mixed up, it was pull down night so all hands on deck hence being told by Brian to move the truck up the road & back into the field. I have many fond memories of Brian, Gerry & their families & sitting in the wagons after the show listening to them talk about Circuses & Circus families.

Do you have any published sources that support any of these details? Many thanks. Martinevans123 (talk) 21:09, 5 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
