I notice that the German Wikipedia says he was German. The English article says he was Czech. He was born in Bohemia and has a rather unusual looking surname, which I would not have thought to be either. How should this be handled? I would suggest calling him "Bohemian" since he was born in Bohemia, but that has allusive problems in English. --LelandRoss (talk) 21:49, 8 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Chvátal is typical Czech name and he has it in a Germanised form (typical for the area where he was born). I have not found any sources supporting the claim that he was German (only Czech and Bohemian), but it is likely that he was a German-speaking Czech. Nowadays "Czech" and "Bohemian" are largely considered synonyms (and we have no "Bohemian composers" category on wiki). FromCzech (talk) 05:09, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
