What's the family name, and what is the correct position?

[edit]

In the Chinese-speaking WP, Fang Liu is Liu Fang, according to Google Translator. In the official documents she is called Dr. Liu. So the surname is Liu. It is called, as usual in Chinese, in the first place. Greetings from Fritzober (talk) 23:39, 22 July 2019 (UTC)Reply

True, but most prominent Chinese figures in the English-speaking world are referred to by their native Chinese surname-first order (e.g., Mao Zedong, Xi Jinping, Chiang Kai-shek, Ai Weiwei. On this basis, this article should be renamed Liu Fang. Pennbrook (talk) 07:08, 21 February 2020 (UTC)Reply
In her capacity as ICAO Secretary General, she signs her name Fang Liu. Presumably this is to avoid confusion.
Therefore, the article title should be Fang Liu as per WP:COMMONNAME. cagliost (talk) 17:17, 11 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Removal of unsourced criticism (dead Twitter link)

[edit]

Hello,

I’ve removed a statement containing criticism of Liu that was cited only to a now-dead Twitter link. Under WP:BLP, material about living people must be verifiable and sourced to reliable publications.

Twitter is explicitly listed as an unreliable source on WP:RSP, and since the original post is no longer accessible, the citation cannot be verified. For these reasons, the material was removed in accordance with WP:BLP and WP:RS.

If anyone finds a reliable, verifiable secondary source supporting the same information, it can be reconsidered for inclusion. Thank you! K0ffqq (talk) 23:52, 13 October 2025 (UTC)Reply
