Pornographic photo

[edit]

Why is it necessary for Wikipedia to show the reader an example of "hentai" with no warning or censorship? What educational, scientific, artistic, journalistic, or cultural value does showing a Japanese anime girl being penetrated by a man's penis add to the world? Are we assuming the reader has never seen pornography, and needs to be shown what it looks like? I find the statement "Wikipedia is not censored" laughable, as the article on Abortion notably does not show any pictures of abortion. Why is that?

NSFW images in preview popup

[edit]

I understand the inclusion of NSFW images from an educational point of view, but if Wikipedia articles continue to use NSFW images, is there a way for them to be flagged as such before clicking on the article.

In this case, even the act of hovering over a link to Eroge displays the NSFW image, which in my case, I was not expecting. It does make it concerning using Wikipedia in public places if there is a chance that NSFW material will flash up on screen unexpectedly. ~2026-17050-2 (talk) 03:39, 18 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

This was answered on the TA's talk page. To keep it short, to hide NSFW images, follow the instructions at Help:Options to hide an image. Warudo (talk) 22:51, 28 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
