A.R Kane coined the term dream pop

[edit]

The term was coined by A.R Kane so they should be mentioned in the lead, a lot of genres have people who coined it in the lead. Aradicus77 (talk) 16:02, 31 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

I agree that Alex Ayuli's coinage should be mentioned in the lead. Like Kkollaps, I have reservations about mentioning him in the lead before Cocteau Twins and This Mortal Coil, especially when the lead is this short. I must note that you've had a pattern of creating distortions in your edit rationales on this page. There has been no effort here to "erase black alternative history", Kkollaps did not remove A.R. Kane's coinage of "dream pop" from the lead, and neither did I suggest that including this detail was overkill. The main issue I had was WP:TERSE: you stretched "A.R. Kane, who are credited with coining the term" into "The term "dreampop" was originally coined by Alex Ayuli of A.R. Kane to describe the duo's sound in the late 1980s". I don't think the lead is detailed enough to contain twelve additional words about A.R. Kane, and I felt that the flow was clunkier compared to KKollaps' revision. ili (talk) 03:59, 13 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
