The article does little to define what double movement actually is.

It is rooted in Marxian analysis which Polanyi's work is somewhat compatible with; but it is not Polanyi's words on double movement Double movement is also a subject that goes beyond Polanyi's work and similar modern definitions should already exist (this is an assumption)

The Speenhamland act, pauperism, and the discovery of society are all important and related to explaining what double movement is; I see no mention of any of these topics to any degree.

This paragraph is particularly atrocious;

The dependence of laissez-faire on global hegemony is a complicated problem because this is the field where political leaders need negotiation to keep their political power for two main purposes. They need to maintain both the protection of the position of the nation within the international state system and the effective function of the domestic economy. Political leaders should pursue a balance between these two goals.

Who's words are these? The wiki writers? Polanyi's? Adam Smith? It mind as well be it also does not explain how this is related to double movement, if anything its topic should probably be in a different article relating to laissez affair or in discussion of its work if it's not going to be cited and put into context of double movement. ~2026-10672-06 (talk) 16:29, 17 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
