Lowercase in title

[edit]

I believe this page should be moved to Dotless J, in a parallel manner to the current page Dotless I. — 69.120.66.153 (talk) 07:10, 3 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

I'm not knowledgeable about this topic, but the article explains that this letter is specifically a lowercase j with no dot. EricEnfermero (Talk) 07:13, 3 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
In that case are you suggesting that Dotless I be moved to Dotless i? Either way, the two should match. — 69.120.66.153 (talk) 05:55, 4 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
I'm not. I think if you carefully look at the entry for Dotless I, you'll understand a little better. Both the uppercase and lowercase I have a dotless form, whereas there is no dotless uppercase J. EricEnfermero (Talk) 05:59, 4 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Usage in Math Notation

[edit]

What about the mathematical convention to omit the dot when putting a vector marker above the variable ? Depending on the style, this results in or , because or look – arguably – somewhat ugly. Depending on the dialect, LaTeX offers the dedicated commands \j and \jmath for this purpose. (The same goes for , , , and \i or \imath, respectively.) --~2026-54384-3 (talk) 17:36, 25 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
