Image missing and ottoman rule

The article says: "...The Burj-al-Nadha Clock-tower is a popular landmark and is featured in the Dhofar Municipality coat of arms(right)..." but there's not any image of coat of arms or anu clock tower, and even I don't know what is "Dhofar Municipality" (Salalah?). I doub also about the long ottomans rule stated (1539–1829) that is not quoted in Encyclopaedia of Islam.--95.17.88.104 (talk) 13:00, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Official name

@Abo Yemen: I am not sure what the policy is on "full/official" names vs. common names of places. For example, I see:

• Middlesex County, Massachusetts: article starts "Middlesex County is..." and consistently uses the full form (never just Middlesex, which seems strange to me).
• Lazio never uses the full form Regione Lazio.
• Eskişehir Province uses the full name, to avoid confusion with the city of Eskişehir, its capital.
• Lower Saxony never calls it the State of Lower Saxony
• Alberta never says the Province of Alberta.

@Macrakis No, there is no MOS on that. But I don't get what you're trying to prove with this list. The Middlesex County, Massachusetts and Eskişehir Province are being used that way to avoid confusion with the other Middlesex and Eskişehir, so the rest now match with the Dhofar case. Yes, the Middlesex etc. article titles need to disambiguate. But that's not what I was focusing on.

For articles on people, we use the common name as the title, e.g., Bill Clinton, and then the full official name in the lead. That is, the lead does not say "Bill Clinton, whose full name is William Jefferson Clinton..." but simply "William Jefferson Clinton is...". That's what I was suggesting for the Dhofar article. The common name is already in the title. I would actually be happy to have *only* the common name in the lead. It seems redundant and unnecessary to mention the full name since we already say that it's a Governorate. Macrakis (talk) 22:36, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
