Democratic Backsliding: erosion in the freedom of the journalists

[edit]

Recently there are reports of erosion in the press freedoms. Prominently reported by Reuters institute (hosted by Oxford), Growing challenges to Danish press freedom indicates country's image of free society might be overlooked many decades, noticeably beginning to slide backwards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-47480-39 (talk) 00:36, 2 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Attempted state sponsored genocide by imposing measures intended to prevent births

[edit]

There is an ongoing case of Denmark committing genocide against its Inuit population, see Greenland says findings on genocide allegation not final (BBC, 2026), "..Under the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, one definition of genocide is "imposing measures intended to prevent births" within a "national, ethnical, racial or religious group..". — Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-47480-39 (talk) 00:49, 2 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

The sentence at the end of the Climate section currently reads: “In the middle of summer, it is light all night long.”

This appears to be misleading in the context of Denmark proper. While summer nights are very short and remain in twilight, it is not fully light all night at Denmark’s latitude. Continuous daylight (midnight sun) occurs only in areas north of the Arctic Circle, such as parts of Greenland. ~2026-23636-22 (talk) 08:30, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want made. Please detail the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. ―Tosca-the-engineer (talk) 10:56, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Tone & content re: Inuit

[edit]

Firstly, the page as a whole would benefit from an Indigenous peoples section under History (see Canada and U.S.). Short of that, this passage (appearing verbatim in Demographics: Population and Culture: Human Rights) could use an update:

"From the 18th century up to the 1970s, the Danish government (Dano-Norwegian until 1814) tried to assimilate the Greenlandic Inuit, encouraging them to adopt the majority language and culture. Because of this "Danization process", some persons of Inuit ancestry now identify their mother tongue as Danish."

Given that the surrounding content re: Inuit in Human Rights is sourced and more focused, this passage should be removed from that section entirely. It seems largely inappropriate for Population as well: lacking available demographic information, any citation, and using a non-neutral tone.

- Change "From the...1970s" to "Though Greenlandic Inuit are recognized by the Danish government as an indigenous people and they receive Danish citizenship, they have no specific legal status or rights." Source: Denmark and Greenland, Mondo Internazionale.

- Change "tried to assimilate...and culture" to "implemented forced assimilation techniques including the removal of children in the 1950s, and sterilization of women into the 1970s." Sources: Speaking Up for Women, UNRIC; A Failed Social Experiment, CNN; Denmark's Dark History, El País.

- Change "Because of this...as Danish" to "As of 2024, over 17,000 Greenlandic people (people with Greenlandic or Greenlandic Inuit heritage) lived in Denmark." Source: Greenland in Figures 2025, Greenland Statistics. Bean7200 (talk) 16:07, 15 May 2026 (UTC)Reply

WRT ending intro paragraph

[edit]

"Denmark is a developed country with an advanced high-income economy, high standard of living, and robust social welfare policies. Danish culture and society are broadly progressive egalitarian, and socially liberal; Denmark was the first country to legally recognise same-sex partnerships. It is a founding member of NATO, the Nordic Council, the OECD, the OSCE, the Council of Europe, and the United Nations, and is part of the Schengen Area. Denmark maintains close political, cultural, and linguistic ties with its Scandinavian neighbours."

Is this 'glaze' really necessary and appropriate? DrDMango (talk) 01:50, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

area

[edit]

The area is wrong and uses , when it should use . a better source for the areal would be Statistikbanken, tabel ARE207: Areal 1. januar efter område. Besøgt 6. april 2023. ~2026-51683-67 (talk) 20:21, 24 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
