Core Security went through an acquisition and rebrand, and is no longer Core Security Technologies. If this changes the url, could we possibly do a redirect? Thanks!

Core Security Research and Advisories

   Information to be added or removed: "After the acquisition by HelpSystems in 2019, Core Labs apparently stopped publishing Security Advisories." should be removed from the Research and Advisories section.
   Explanation of issue: This is inaccurate. Core Security is currently publishing security advisories. The most recent one was published 1/27/20.

 Done. No doubt there was a significant > 1 year long gap in advisories released before the most recent one, but this more-or-less implies the acquisition was the cause for the time gap, which is likely unverifiable, and in my opinion the given reference was inadequate to make this claim. –Erakura^(talk) 14:34, 7 March 2020 (UTC)

COI edit request: parent and ownership updates

Hello, I have a declared conflict of interest with respect to Fortra, and that extends to related brand pages like Core Security Technologies. I have the following requests for limited updates, all pertaining to parent / ownership framing:

1. In the infobox, the Parent currently refers to HelpSystems and TA Associates. HelpSystems should be updated to reflect the company's current name, Fortra.

I also recommend removing the "TA Associates" reference from the infobox. TA Associates is an investor in Fortra rather than Core Security's direct parent, so listing Fortra as the sole parent would be both clearer and better sourced. This also aligns with the article's own existing statement further down the page in the History section stating that the company became Fortra in 2022.

2. The way the article subject is framed in the article lead and infobox is very confusing right now: "Fortra, formerly known as Core Security by HelpSystems..." This seems confusing and unnecessary (Fortra is the parent, not the primary subject of this page). I request that we simplify this to simply "Core Security" in both the opening sentence and the infobox name.

3. Finally, I am requesting removal of the outdated logo in the infobox, which still includes "by HelpSystems" branding, based on the same rationale as the above.

Partly done I changed the words in the infobox. I attempted to remove the logo, but an even older logo became displayed instead; I even tried blanking everything but an empty infobox template and the older logo was still displayed. I'm not sure but I think it's an issue with WikiData that you will need to handle there.

If you are employed by Fortra, directly or indirectly, you must make the stricter paid editing disclosure instead of a COI disclosure. Your general salary triggers this terms of use requirement, it does not require specific compensation for editing.

Looking at the article as a whole, I am concerned that it does not meet the special Wikiepdia definition of a notable company. The article largely summarizes the routine business activities and offerings of the company with little critical analysis and commentary(termed "significant coverage"). The two awards mentioned do not help, as in order to contribute to notability an award must itself merit an article(like Nobel Peace Prize or Grammy Award). As such, I am tagging the article for notability concerns. 331dot (talk) 11:27, 23 September 2026 (UTC)
