Chronology of rediscovery clarification I’ve restored the portion describing the December 2019 rediscovery of Capsicum eshbaughii near Samaipata, Bolivia, by independent field researcher and pepper cultivator Rich Blood. This event represents the first documented re-encounter of the species in the wild since its original collection in the 1980s, predating subsequent verification visits and genetic studies by Claudio Dal Zovo and South American botanists, later discussed in Barboza et al. (2020). All personal and promotional website links have been removed to comply with WP:SELFPROMO, and only peer-reviewed or otherwise verifiable third-party sources remain cited. Rewrites to Description and Taxonomy sections; removal of rewite tag

I’ve rewritten both the Description and Taxonomy and discovery sections to address previous cleanup concerns and improve alignment with Wikipedia’s style and sourcing policies.

Description: The section was previously flagged for copyright similarity, but the issue has since been resolved with a CC BY citation to the monograph. I’ve now further paraphrased and simplified the language to meet encyclopedic tone and readability standards while preserving all key morphological details verified by the cited source.

Taxonomy and discovery: This section was restructured for neutrality, concision and for compliance with WP:NPOV and WP:VERIFY.

Since both sections are now concise, neutrally worded, and properly attributed, I’ve removed the {{rewrite}} tag as the prior issues have been addressed in full. Richard Blood (talk) 20:20, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
