Created for undisclosed payments?

Someone who "works with the company" recently edited the article to remove a {{UDP}} tag from 2018. I reverted the edit because, as someone who works with the company, they themselves have a COI and probably shouldn't remove that template without discussion. I am interested in starting that discussion, though: Is there evidence that the article was created in exchange for undisclosed payments, has the issue been addressed, and should this tag remain? 〜 Askarion ✉ 00:59, 27 July 2024 (UTC)

Two years later, I'm going to remove the UDP. If strong evidence exists that the article was created in exchange for payment, we can put it back, but until that's provided consider: (a) the citations to The Guardian, Wired, etc. (from late-2017 and early-2018), which were there in the first draft of this article, point to the fact the company really was notable enough when the article was created (January 2018); and (b) given the article calls the company a "writer's society of artists and developers" (???), wouldn't it anyway be more likely that someone with a COI (someone associated with Botnik Studios) created the article than someone they actually paid money to (in which case you'd use WP:COI)? This isn't a well-written article, and it sounds like they could have easily got their heads around using the Source Editor if that's what they wanted to do. Prmkff (talk) 18:24, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
