Is Bob Katter a Lebanese politician?

[edit]

I note that one of four grandparents were born in Lebanon. That does not make him a Lebanese politician. NomicsGrrl (talk) 20:25, 26 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Correct. This was vandalism. Fixed. Frickeg (talk) 20:56, 26 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Potential COI

[edit]

I noticed that this diff seems to admit to a conflict of interest, , which along with this diff , makes me suspect there may be other COI edits. I've removed some of it for now, but am placing a template until I or someone else can do a more thorough examination. Darthkayak (talk) 10:33, 13 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Changing Portrait

[edit]

His portrait is really out of date, should we update it to his modern official portrait? LiamzOftheLolz (talk) 23:44, 5 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Which picture do you suggest to use? Can you please attach the actual file to demonstrate grate your point better? If the image isn't available under a free license we just can't consider using it. Qwerty123M (talk) 00:12, 6 May 2025 (UTC)Reply
The only other available one is this one, which I think is not very suitable.
I searched on Flickr using both "Bob Katter" and "Robert Katter", but did not find any results. Nurken (talk) 18:13, 28 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

This link doesn't work. Traumnovelle (talk) 21:56, 28 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Yes it does, it's a link to Hansard. Not sure that it is needed, Katter's Lebanese ancestry is already sourced in the article. WWGB (talk) 07:10, 29 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
It establishes a more reliable, official source that would have had access to related official documents that verify his Lebanese ancestry, as opposed to the current ABC source. Sushidude21! (talk) 08:24, 29 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
Immigration records aren't hard to access. Traumnovelle (talk) 08:25, 29 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
There is nothing wrong with the current sourcing and primary sources such as birth certificates and immigration records shouldn't be used on Wikipedia. Traumnovelle (talk) 03:56, 30 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism

[edit]

After the recent controversy it appears all longstanding references to his Lebanese heritage are being vandalized. Someone please keep an eye on the tags and categories. 101.187.43.79 (talk) 23:37, 28 August 2025 (UTC)Reply

[edit]

Katter is of Lebanese descent through his paternal grandfather Carl Robert Katter (originally spelled "Khittar"), who was born in Bsharri and immigrated to Australia with his parents in 1898; 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘮𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳 𝘝𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘒𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 (𝘯é𝘦 𝘞𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘺), who's 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘈𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘢 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘘𝘢𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘢 𝘝𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦 19𝘵𝘩 𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘺.

My request is: Katter is of Lebanese descent through his paternal grandfather Carl Robert Katter (originally spelled "Khittar"), who was born in Bsharri and immigrated to Australia with his parents in 1898; Acknowledgement of Lebanese heritage from Bob Katter's paternal grandmother also: Vivian Bridget Mary Warby, who's parents were Joseph Warby and Ada Jacob (formely Saidee) were from Beccahari, Qadisha Valley, (now part of Lebanon) born approximately 1867 and 1872 respectively (this can be seen in records from Queensland from late 19th century), they arrived in Australia in the 1880s. Otherwise by only acknowledging his paternal grandfather Carlysle 'Carl' Assad Robert Katter (formerly Khalil Assad Moubarak Khitar Kairooz)'s Lebanese heritage, it is disrespectful and disregarding not to acknowledge Vivian (née Warby) Katter's heritage from there also. This will not be done. Bob Katter is an Australian citizen who is elected to represent an Australian electorate in the Australian parliament. Traumnovelle (talk) 22:39, 20 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
