Shotwell trial - Tammany connection
[edit]Article currently claims "In 1875, Carlotta Frances Shotwell testified before the Assembly Committee on Crime in New York City about the legal abuses in her 1874 trial. It came out in these proceedings that District Attorney Phelps was tied to the Tammany Hall political machine" however, by all accounts Phelps appeared to be a Republican/anti-Tammany candidate, which would conflict with this claim. The inline citation for this paragraph references a book which is not readily viewable, so any clarification or insight here would be helpful. Headphase (talk) 14:50, 26 November 2021 (UTC)
