Andrew Mason (businessman) → Andrew Mason – More than 10,000 page views in the past month. That is 70 times more page views than the footballer (82) and the cricketer (65) combined (and they aren't getting any younger). Primary topic suggests that to be the primary topic, the article only needs to have more page views than all the others combined. This person meets that requirement 70 times. Heritage

I tired to edit this article, and received a message from Creffet suggesting I might have a conflict of interest with this article. (Or the statement I tried to edit. I'm not sure, and I can't see how to answer that "Talk" session.) I'm an old woman, trying to learn something new during my granddaughter's nap time. I've tried to read and understand what is necessary to make a correction, and reading "Conflict of Interest" only confuses me. I don't understand why I can't make this change, which would benefit the system because it would be CORRECT/TRUE information.

The first sentence in "Early Life" states that Mr. Mason grew up in a Jewish family in Mt. Lebanon. It is true that he grew up in Mt. Lebanon, and while we have a nice mixture of ethnicities and faiths in this neighborhood, Andrew did not grow up in a Jewish family. Nor did I, his mother, nor did his father.

The reference {Reference #3) for this statement is from an article in the Daily Deal Media written by Megan Bildner. I don't believe Ms. Bildner ever actually interviewed Andrew, and certainly never interviewed his mother or father.

I don't want to (ever) write an article. I just want to correct inaccurate information about something/someone with whom I am very familiar.. If anyone can help me understand why I'm not allowed to make this change, or why I might have a "conflict of interest" with the article, I'd certainly appreciate it.

Correct Early Life and Education

• What I think should be changed: Remove "a Jewish family". Instead of "Mason grew up in a Jewish family in Mt. Lebanon..." it should be changed to "Mason grew up in Mt. Lebanon..."
• Why it should be changed: Mason did NOT grow up in a Jewish family. He DID grow up in a family in Mt. Lebanon...
• References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button): How can I prove a negative? What source can I provide? To quote Wikipedia article on Reliable sources, "if no reliable sources can be found on a topic, Wikipedia should not have an article on it. and "Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—must be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion."

  Edit request implemented  

• The claim that the subject is Jewish was added 14 years ago by an IP editor with no sources.
• A purported source for the claim was added 13 years ago by an editor who is still active. That spurious source, called Daily Deal Media, has been difficult to verify its existence.
• Another now-banned editor archived the spurious reference 9 years ago. An edit summary of their archiving action notably states "...rescued dead link, which gives previously uncited birth year as 1981, and like the Chicago Magazine article, only says raised in Mt. Lebanon." However, after virtually admitting that the DDM source does not state that the subject is Jewish, that editor failed to remove the claim.
• As far as "Megan Bildner", the purported author of the Daily Deal Media article, a search of her name brings up this source which states the following LLM-generated nonsense: "Megan Bildner, junior editor of Daily Deal Media, told American City Business Journals in an email that Business owners have much to consider when deciding whether a daily deal site is right for their company."
• Over the years, only LLM-generated media like the dubiously named University Herald, WordPress.com, and the above mentioned American City Business Journal have repeated the subjects ethnicity as being Jewish.
• All of these details suggest that the label of Jewish should be viewed as extremely suspicious, and accordingly, has been removed by this reviewer.
