The section on tourism and travel is a mess.

Compare the statement

"the term allocentric traveler refers to a traveler who is an extroverted venturer. This is contrasted with the term psychocentric traveler who is dependable, less adventurous, and cautious."

and

"Female allocentric travelers were found to be more neurotic and less extraverted than psychocentric travelers.[52]"

If an allocentric (by definition extroverted) traveller is less extroverted than a psychocentric traveller, there must be something wrong here either with the research, the quote or the categories.

And what on earth is 'horizontally individualistic' in the following? Perhaps it refers to people who enjoy lying down in unconventional positions?

"American and Japanese college students who reported being more horizontally individualistic tended to prefer more allocentric destinations.[53]"

This all needs checking and rewriting. 86.133.174.189 (talk) 13:46, 18 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

speaks too objectively

[edit]

this article makes a lot of objective claims about "types of people" and despite having references a lot of this seem more like opinion than fact 2601:580:C201:42E0:D41F:5DB4:4D5D:5F4D (talk) 20:48, 4 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Referencing

[edit]

Hi, I'm a little too new to this to be confident enough to make the changes myself so I'm just going to mention what I think here and more experienced heads can implement it if they agree. I noticed the header says it reads like a term paper, and while I'm not entirely sure what that means, I did notice the referencing was different than usual. The author has listed them in a list of notes, and then has a references section but none of them have the numbering, that's all in the notes area. If I'm correct the notes and references section should be combined or reworked to have the references numbered and any remaining notes should be in a separate notes section (if there are any).
