Advertising alert

I have placed an ADVERT mark-up for the paragraphs discussing Version 4 of the software, because the style of the list is evident of lifted advertising/manual copy, likely originated by Adobe, using "your/you" in a non-encyclopedic and promotional way, reflecting advertising copy. This entire article is garbage. "Johnny and Franky got together to make this wonderful new softwares ! Its Codename was Elephant Ears ! I am in awe of the hi-tech talent located in Minnesota ! Their sweeties call them 'Gooberheads'. Isn't that adorable ?"

Too much jargon

I am absolutely none the wiser after reading this article. An encyclopedia article should explain what Lightroom does and doesn't do. And given its heritage, it should explain its differences from Photoshop. All I see though is jargon like "Tethered Capture Support". Adpete (talk) 08:44, 17 December 2014 (UTC)

Pretty much everything here starting at v9 is garbage. It's just a giant list of silly sales points, telling people nothing. And yeah, it's basically similar to Photoshop. In fact it's even owned by the same disgusting people. 203.160.86.9 (talk) 07:07, 6 April 2023 (UTC)

What about Adobe Lightroom CC 2015?

So shouldn't this article contain information about Lightroom CC? Or is there some reason why it doesn't?

I have amended the article to indicate that Lightroom is AKA Lightroom CC, and that Lightroom 6 is AKA Lightroom CC 2015. I have not added that Lightroom 6.x is Lightroom CC 2015.x, which one could argue for inclusion of. -Lopifalko (talk) 12:59, 22 July 2017 (UTC)

What you did was a mistake; a mistake one that our manual of style has already warned not to do. Please see Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Computing § Version versus product name.

The Adobe page cited above later clarifies twice that: "Lightroom version: CC 2015.12/Lightroom 6.12", meaning that "CC 2015.12" is the version name and "6.12" is the version number. Also, see this: helpx.adobe.com/lightroom/kb/lightroom-downloads.html

Lightroom CC is now known as Lightroom.

I came here to find out when Lightroom CC became Lightroom, but this article still thinks it is called Lightroom CC. Also Adobe no longer differentiates between Lightroom Mobile and Lightroom Desktop. There are two versions, Lightroom Classic and Lightroom 58.110.77.244 (talk) 04:37, 3 June 2024 (UTC)

I've made some changes to the article to hopefully make that distinction more clear. You're right in that Adobe doesn't really distinguish between the mobile version and the cloud-based version of Lightroom all that much; they're pretty much the same thing using the same architecture underneath, just one is the desktop version and one is the mobile version.
