Here is an English reputable source citing Dalenogare for discovering the first Oscar mention in print and rebulking Skolsky's claim

[edit]

I'm a bit of a wiki newbie, so I don't know how to add these references without breaking the page. Here is a English reputable source citing Dalenogare for discovering cinematters column:

Another trustworthy source, but in Portuguese:

Anime

[edit]

Nothing here references the Academy's history with Anime, which has long been neglected as a category despite its global domination. This is an interesting read. CherryPie94 🍒🥧 (talk) 12:13, 18 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Lead sentence

[edit]

Isn't the primary meaning of "Academy Awards" or "Oscars" the awards ceremony, and not the actual trophies? I think the lead sentence of the BAFTAs makes more sense. Maybe "The Academy Awards, commonly known as the Oscars is an annual film awards ceremony presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences... Winners are awarded an Oscar statuette..." Academy Gold Medal

[edit]

1966: only time it has been awarded by the board of governors. Only recipient: Bob Hope, for services to the industry and the academy. Needs to be added to the list of governors awards. Ajpajpajp1 (talk) 02:11, 14 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Tied awards

[edit]

There have been seven occurrences where there has been a tie in Academy Awards history, and there should be a special symbol (for example §) to indicate a tie in addition to the standard double dagger (‡) in those situations. The 2025 awards (held March 15, 2026) was the latest occurrence. SerenityRune (talk) 22:01, 16 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
