The result of the discussion was merge per previous AfD and points brought forward by nominator. Only opposer provided no reasoning. Note that WP:MERGE doesn't recommend notifying the creators of an article, and even if it did, Wikipedia is WP:NOTABUREAUCRACY: A procedural error made in a proposal or request is not grounds for rejecting that proposal or request. The 2024 AfD arrived at "no consensus", with an explicit note from the closer that discussing a potential merge on the talk would be a good way forward. Given the length of the article and the sourcing, I believe readers would be better served if they saw this content in Hobnob_biscuit#History. There shouldn't be any issues with undue weight. To fully understand the Hobnob biscuit's history you'd have to read this article anyway, and to fully understand the Abbey Crunch's fate you'd have to read the Hobnob article, given the Abbey Crunch was a precursor to it and they're virtually identical in all but name.
