• The opening sentence is a bit of a mouthful. I might look for a way to break it up or shorten it, but it's not strictly wrong as is.

• Reading this section, I might suggest putting the appearances before the conception. That will make it easier for a casual reader to follow who the character is, before talking about their development.

• "2B is presented as a "B" (Battler) combat android for YoRHa, a newly-created squadron dedicated to reclaiming Earth for humanity from the machines created by invading aliens in a prolonged proxy war." -> This is a pretty dense sentence. I might suggest splitting it into two shorter sentences.

@Shooterwalker: Okay, I've made further changes. Not your fault, but this was more annoying than it needed to be since a lot of the edits in the time since I wrote it added info, but also significant grammatical awkwardness and problems as well as issues with the layout. That is part of the reason I wanted to do this GA though, before it got any worse. Tell me if there are any more issues with the article. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 21:46, 15 March 2023 (UTC)

I understand this process can be annoying. There's going to be one more round of revisions, but hopefully it won't be too annoying. The article has improved a lot already, and is within close reach of GA status.

I did find an unofficial translation of one of the interviews, which would suggest that the quote of "enjoyable to cosplay" (seems to be in the answer 「私が吉田明彦さんに“コスプレ映えしそうな衣装を是非”と発注しました。太ももあたりがたぶん彼のこだわりの部分だと思いますよ。」) should in fact be attributed to producer Saito Yosuke. Upon examining the other source, I've noticed a few other passages in it mentioning cosplay (「コスプレ」) including one which also appears to be attributed to Saito: (「俺からは、ファンの方たちがコスプレしやすい衣装に仕上げてくれたらうれしいな、と。」）Which according to DeepL, says that he would like the character costumes to be easy to cosplay.
I still cannot find any such statement that appears attributed to Taro. Considering that this tracks with what both machine translation and the fan translation say concerning the quote from the other interview, then, assuming I'm not mistaken about this, I think the likely ideal choice would be to change the hook to attribute the statement to Saito, and update the article accordingly. silvia (BlankpopsiclesilviaASHs4) (inquire within) 05:19, 10 April 2023 (UTC)

Notability check

Hi, nothing to worry about, I'm just doing a thing where the WP:VG/VGC task force goes alphabetically through low-importance video game character articles to verify whether or not the subject is notable, and if not, whether there's any saving it!

Now, looking at it, for me, it definitely passes when it comes to coverage of her design and conception. I'm also satisfied with the reception - I think there could be some more meat added on, but what there is at least enough to show she's notable. So I !vote Notable. As an aside, I removed an unreliable source - Niche Gamer - so something else should replace it (or the content should be removed). I also think that the Elon Musk part should be removed, as it's not actually about 2B in a meaningful way, just incidentally. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 22:48, 17 July 2023 (UTC)

2B is not an android

9S is an android. 2B and A2 and 2P and P2 are gynoids. I'm not sure what the protocol is on how to change the page so i thought I'd bring it up here. DaisyLikeTheCow (talk) 14:31, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

Nier Automata does not use "gynoid" anywhere and refers to androids of both genders as simply "androids". Wikipedia doesn't have to "correct" that, since it's not technically wrong. It is misleading to say that "baseball" in general is precisely the same as the term "2B" as used for a second baseman. I've heard of the term second base a ton, but never 2B with regards to baseball. The second baseman article is also possibly failing WP:GNG and needs major work or a merge.

To bring some actual stats into this discussion, WikiNav shows that most people are navigating from the DAB to the Nier character at 84% of outgoing pageviews, followed by pencil at 16% of outgoing views, with second base not even registering. Support per page views, it is the primary topic. I don't really think the abbreviation used for two baseball terms can be held against it? I wouldn't expect many readers to be looking for those second baseman and double (baseball) with their shorthand, and thus I don't really se it competing for primary topic. Besides, this is a tertiary source, we are based on secondary sources, 2B has much more academic literature and retrospectives than doubles or second baseman. And I haven't seen 2B used to refer to To Be (2B, or not 2B is even a red link!), and evidentially it isn't used to refer to that in anything on the dab. 1brianm7 (talk) 19:31, 19 August 2026 (UTC)

Support per above. The character is by far the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC of "2B". Most of the other entries on the disambiguation page are either non-notable, not known primarily as "2B", or known as "IIB" instead. The lion's share of pencils used for things like schoolwork and writing are HB. 2B is a very little-known softness used only in drawing pencils, of which only artists are aware of. Weak support Among the search results for 2B in DuckDuckGo, I found that over half (if not two thirds) of the search results had to do with Nier Automata. If this article only had to compete with other articles named "2B", my support would be stronger as this would undoubtedly take PT over the band and the film. My only apprehension is the fact that "2B" can also refer to pencil lead, as @Necrothesp pointed out, which seems to be common in the UK? I'm in the US so if someone from other English-speaking countries could run an unpersonalized search query for "2B" that could help strengthen my support. Purely for information, searching from the UK, the first 15 results give me nine for the character, three for 2B (film), and the rest for unrelated agencies and obscure companies - none for the pencil, which surprised me. Netural on the move itself. Tevildo (talk) 21:58, 10 September 2026 (UTC)

Oppose "2B" alone cannot be an appropriate page title for this character because it fails to meet Wikipedia:TITLEDAB. It is linked to many pages, including pencil hardness grading. WP:CRITERIA says, "The title unambiguously identifies the article's subject and distinguishes it from other subjects." The Japanese and Chinese pages are already titled YoRHa No. 2 Type B (ヨルハ二号B型, Yoruha Ni-gō B-gata). This name clearly shows that it is not a human being but an artificially built robot. Unfortunately, this is misunderstanding Wikipedia guidelines.

1) English Wikipedia is not required to follow the guidelines of Chinese and Japanese Wikipedia.

2) Per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, Wikipedia is not obliged to have no primary topic for any article that may contain alternate uses. Simply because 2B might refer to an obscure type of pencil lead does not remove the possibility of there being a primary topic, or force a move to a naturally disambiguated title.

3) WP:COMMONNAME would eliminate the possibility of ever using "YoRHa No. 2 Type B" as a title, since she is never called that by fans or the media, much less the game. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 18:06, 11 September 2026 (UTC)

• Support If a reader types only "2B" into the search bar and hits enter, this is the only article they could plausibly be expecting to find at that title. For almost any other article listed at the 2B dab page, readers are more likely going to use a more specific search term. I don't think we can reasonably assume many people are just typing only the characters "2B" and expecting to be taken directly to the article about the 2b2t Minecraft server (no one calls it "2b") or the ADRA2B receptor, much less a table of graphite drawing pencil hardness ratings at Pencil#Grading and classification where "2b" is just listed as a single table cell with 0 words of prose about the 2b graphite pencil. The Portuguese band of the same name is a redirect to Portugal in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 rather than a standalone article, and the article about the film of the same name is stubby and marginally notable. Seems like this is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for this search term. Since others mentioned image search results, I tried searching "2b" on DuckDuckGo with AI results hidden. For the first 35 full rows of images, 100% of results were the character, after which I started getting some listings for 2 bedroom apartments.  Vanilla  Wizard 💙 02:11, 16 September 2026 (UTC)
