Patrick William "Rick" Devens (born April 5, 1984) is an American reality television personality and former TV news anchor.[1] He competed on two seasons of Survivor and one season of Big Brother.

Education and career

[edit]

Devens graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in broadcast journalism in 2006. He worked at WGXA morning news in Macon, Georgia since 2009.[2][3] As of 2026, he was working as Director of Communications at Middle Georgia State University.[4][5]

Television appearances

[edit]

Survivor: Edge of Extinction

[edit]

Devens finished in fourth place in his debut season Survivor: Edge of Extinction (2019). Rick Devens became the fourth player voted out but was sent to the titular Edge of Extinction, where he could return to the game via a challenge.[6] Devens won the challenge to get back into the game, as there was only one spot available at that time before the merge, ultimately winning four immunity challenges and finding four hidden immunity idols to remain in the game.[7] At the final four, Devens lost the immunity challenge and was eliminated by the eventual winner Chris Underwood in a fire making competition.[citation needed]

Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans

[edit]

Devens was selected as an alternate for season 50, and he ended up making the cast.[7][8] Devens was placed on the Cila tribe pre-merge which went to multiple pre-merge tribal councils. Devens and Christian Hubicki made a ploy at tribal council to place a fake hidden immunity idol on the set to confuse other players. Another tribe-mate, Joe Hunter feuded with Devens throughout the season. Devens volunteered to do a coin flip with celebrity guest MrBeast. He won the coin flip which rewarded him safety, an immunity idol, and added an extra million dollars into the prize pot. Rick ended up with a lack of allies and was hence, voted out at the final seven.[9][10]

Big Brother 28

[edit]

Following his appearance on Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans, Devens competed on the twenty-eighth season of Big Brother[11] alongside his fellow Survivor 50 castaway and Survivor winner Dee Valladares.[12] On Day 87, Devens was crowned the winner of Big Brother 28 and was voted America's Favorite HouseGuest. He also earned $10,000 during the final week of the game, making him the HouseGuest who won the most money from Big Brother with $810,000 total.[13][14]

Other appearances

[edit]

Devens was set to make a brief appearance in James Gunn's Man of Tomorrow film, but dropped out due to competing on Big Brother.[15]

Personal life

[edit]

In 2010, Devens met his wife, Becca. The two married in 2012. The couple has two children, Jackson, born in 2014 and Juliet, born in 2017.[16]
