Neha Bora is a PhD student and an Indian activist. She is the national president of the All India Students' Association (AISA) and active participant in India's Gen-Z movements.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
Bora is from Khatima, Uttarakhand. Her father served in the Indian Army so she moved from city to city in her childhood. She is also a theatre artist.[1][4] She completed her BA from Delhi University, MA from Ambedkar University and is pursuing a PhD at the Jawaharlal Nehru University School of Arts and Aesthetics.[1][5]
Student activism
Bora gained national attention through her involvement in the 2026 Delhi Jantar Mantar protests,[6] which demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, over allegations related to paper leaks and the NEET exam irregularities.[6] Along with Sonam Wangchuk, she undertook a 23-day hunger strike in the national capital.[7][8] The hunger strike took a significant toll on her health.[4] She participated in the students' protest associated with the Cockroach Janta Party which developed from an online political satire campaign.[9] She also demanded the resignation of Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar, alleging police brutality against the student and youth during the 2026 Sansad Chalo march organised by the Cockroach Janta Party.[10]
She has spoken on the privatisation of education, mob lynching, paper leak, justice for Bilkis Bano, Gaza genocide and Gaza humanitarian crisis.[11][7][12][13][14][15]
Neha Bora joined the 2026 Jharkhand student protests on 7 August 2026.
Bora has publicly supported the release of Umar Khalid, who has been detained under the UAPA related to the 2020 Delhi riots.[16] In an interview with The Indian Express, she said that she and AISA support the release of Khalid.[17][18]
Bora has also advocated for the release of another prisoner, Sharjeel Imam, who is currently imprisoned in Tihar Jail under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for instigating violence during the anti-CAA protests.[17]
