Julio Fredes Ortiz was a Chilean politician who served as a member of the Chamber of Deputies of Chile and as Minister of Finance under President Germán Riesco.[1]
A member of the Radical Party, he represented La Laja, Nacimiento and Mulchén in the Chamber of Deputies during the 1894–1897 legislative term.[1]
Early life
[edit]Fredes was the son of José María Fredes Román and Andrea Ortiz Latorre. He served for ten years as a director of the Sociedad de Instrucción Primaria.[1]
Political career
[edit]A member of the Radical Party, Fredes was elected to the Chamber of Deputies for La Laja, Nacimiento and Mulchén for the 1894–1897 legislative term. He took his seat in the Chamber on 2 July 1896.[1]
During the presidency of Germán Riesco, Fredes was appointed Minister of Finance on 18 March 1905. He remained in office until 1 August 1905.[1]
