Fellowship of Christian Airline Personnel is an evangelical[1] aviation chaplaincy founded in 1971 by 50 professionals employed by eight airlines in the US and Canada.[2] Incorporated in 1973, the scope of its Great Commission has become worldwide since.[3] It is sponsored by the International Association of Missionary Aviation (IAMA), and has numerous funding streams. Although it is a mission field organization distinct from the International Association of Civil Aviation Chaplains (IACAC)[4]—whose chapels are commonly found in cosmopolitan international airports—officially its chapels are likewise non-denominational interfaith worship spaces and serve as such.[1][5] As churches in miniature, they may host memorial services, etc., as befits their scale,[6] and even provide emergency shelter for stranded travelers.[7]
