WP:NOTE
[edit]I think we need to minimize talking about his career and more talk about the controversies he's been in, since those are more reliably sourced. TansoShoshen (talk) 02:20, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- It's finally gotten to the point where I am comfortable sending this in for review. I'm so glad random people aren't dropping by just to click submit. TansoShoshen (talk) 07:37, 18 January 2026 (UTC)
IPA in lead
[edit]Going to be posting here so some linguist better versed in "Asian American English" can hopefully improve on what I have and how to more effectively place it on Wikipedia. King pronounces his name very consistently, but he does something weird. He aspirates the k in "King", and he uses what sounds close to the rising tone in Mandarin. He pronounces his surname "Liang" not like anything how it's pronounced in Mandarin, there is a lengthened eɪ and what sounds like a neutral tone.
As far as I know, IPAc-en does not support the aspiration nor the tones, especially the latter, as English is not a tonal language. TansoShoshen (talk) 21:39, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
List of known free depictions of King
[edit]So no matter what we do, as of now, any photo of Plainrock124 would go straight to WP:UBI.
However, given that free depictions are few and far between, and that they are all reliant on the fact that American copyright does not extend to automated services, I believe it's important to compile in 1 place.
Already uploaded to Commons:
- VACATION TECH FAILS, various shots taken from Tesla sentry cam footage, starting at 07:50. Frame of which cropped and is currently in use as infobox image.
- NEW CAMERA! VLOG #41 1-11-16, short demonstration of security cam at 4:08, frame of which has been uploaded and cropped for an alternative infobox image. I think out of what we have, these are the only 2 realistically usable ones.
- Bored Smashing - Chinese Tech!, less than a second's worth of footage from aforementioned security cam at 2:04, only known free depiction of him destroying technology.
Others:
- MY EXPENSIVE MISTAKES Another security cam footage, 3:33, only known free depiction of King's voice. Might be worth uploading, but only 1 word and in such low quality makes me believe it's personally not worth it.
- 15 WAYS TO BREAK A GRAPHICS CARD Security cam footage at 12:49, but he's moving so quickly he's a blur.
Ineligible:
- creepy backyard mystery... 8:34, security cam footage. It's his backyard but that's not him.
- Moving On... Starting 27:53, almost certainly not real Ring camera footage given positioning and quality.
- A NIGHT AT CLOWN MOTEL Starting at 14:55, while positioned to be a security camera, definitely arguable if there's human involvement or not.
As a final comment, I do remember that there's some other video out there containing security cam footage of King's phone slipping out his pocket, but his back was turned towards the camera. I was unable to find the video in question. This was compiled with the assistance of the Plainrock Community Discord Server. This list is not exhaustive, there's likely more out there.
