The Post Internazionale, abbreviated as TPI, is an Italian magazine published by The Post Internazionale Srl, with an initial investment of 118,000 euros. It is headquartered in Rome at Via Padre Semeria 25/29, Rome.[1][2][3][4]
The magazine publishes news drawing from international news sources (Reuters, AP, AFP) and produces articles written by correspondents in the field. TPI has published investigations produced together with the weekly l'Espresso.[5]
History
[edit]The Post Internazionale was founded in 2010 by Giulio Gambino (a journalist who worked for l'Espresso and La Stampa, and nephew of Antonio Gambino, one of the founders of l'Espresso), together with Francesco Saverio Bersani, Stefano Mentana (son of Enrico Mentana), Davide Lerner (son of Gad Lerner) and Adriano Pagani.[1][4] Among the other contributors to the publication, until 2013, was Sofia Bettiza (daughter of Enzo Bettiza).[6][7]
The magazine was presented at its launch by leading figures of the l'Espresso group, such as editors Eugenio Scalfari of la Repubblica and Lucio Caracciolo of Limes.[3][8][9][10] In subsequent years, Repubblica continued to support and give prominence to the portal and its activities.[11] The publication is registered with the Court of Rome (no. 294) as of 19 October 2012.
In September 2021, The Post Internazionale officially transformed into a printed weekly, with the website tpi.it becoming its online version. The magazine is available on newsstands every Friday.[12]
Circulation
[edit]As of November 2016, The Post Internazionale generated over 15 million unique users per month, of whom over 5 million are readers under 35.[13] According to the Audiweb ranking of January 2019, TPI is the thirteenth most-read news website in Italy.[14]
Controversies
[edit]In 2014, the president of the Italian Order of Journalists, Enzo Lacopino, denounced the internship conditions offered by The Post Internazionale as exploitative and asked the publication to comply with current regulations.[15] In his reply, the editor of TPI denied the validity of the criticisms and in turn accused the professional Order of being merely a "baroque and complicated bureaucracy".[16]
