Simon Rufener (born 1997[1]) is a Swiss wheel gymnast. He has won multiple world championship titles.
Biography
[edit]Simon Rufener comes from Birsfelden. He began wheel gymnastics at around 13 years old, having previously done acrobatics. He is currently studying secondary education at the University of Lucerne.[2]
Alongside his active career, Rufener works as a coach for children and youths in wheel gymnastics and is involved on the board of the club SATUS Birsfelden to support young athletes.[3] In addition, he holds the role of president of the national association "Rhönradswiss".[4]
He is also a member of the Athletes’ Commission of the International Wheel Gymnastics Federation (IRV), representing the interests of active athletes.[5]
At the 2026 World Championships, Simon announced his retirement from international competitive sports.[6]
