The Scutum Group is a French family-owned company operating in the fields of electronic security, fire safety, international security and cybersecurity. Founded in 1989, the company operates in fourteen countries across Europe and North America.
As of 2025, the group employs approximately 3,000 people and reports more than 425,000 sites connected to its remote monitoring platform. Its headquarters are located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, and the company is led by Franck Namy.[1]
History

[edit]In 1990, Xavier Namy acquired Société Lilloise de Télésurveillance, a company founded in 1977, and renamed it "Scutum".[2] From its inception, the company focused on remote monitoring and electronic security. In 1992, Franck Namy assumed the management of Scutum.[3]
Expansion in France
[edit]During the 1990s and 2000s, Scutum expanded its operations in France through a series of acquisitions. The company acquired Protext in 1996 and Gastinne in 2001.[3]
In 2008, the group acquired the businesses of G4S Technologie, G4S ILS and Égide Confidentiel Défense.[4]
In 2010, the group acquired SSF, expanding its activities in security and risk management.[5]
In 2011, the group acquired France Incendie, extending its activities to fire safety. In 2015, France Incendie and Égide were merged to form the group's dedicated fire safety entity.[3]
In 2015, the group acquired Satif and Fire&Co.[6] · [7].
In 2022, the company acquired Ivoxe, a company specialising in road freight transport security.[8]
In 2023, the group acquired Fichet-Bauche Télésurveillance, a company specialising in the remote monitoring of high-risk sites,[9] · [10] · [11], as well as the Operations division of Risk&Co, active in risk management and competitive intelligence.[12]
Expansion in Europe
[edit]According to CFNEWS, the group has completed more than thirty acquisitions since its creation.[1]
Scutum began expanding internationally in 2016 with the acquisition of Ceulemans Security in Belgium.[7]
The same year, the company entered the United Kingdom through a partnership with Orion Security Solutions, an electronic security and fire safety company based in Oxford.[13] · [14]
Scutum subsequently completed several acquisitions in the electronic security and fire safety sectors, including FPG in Scotland in 2017,[15] Elite Fire Protection and Securi-Guard in 2018,[16] Electro Guard Fire & Security in 2022,[17] McElwaine Security Services in Northern Ireland in 2024,[18] and IDS Fire & Security and Black Box Group in 2025.[19] · [20]
In Germany, Scutum established operations in 2011 with the acquisition of Inform Solutions GmbH.[21] The company later acquired TEB Video & Security GmbH in 2023,[22] · [23] followed by Alinotec GmbH & Co. KG in 2025,[24] · [25] and Alarm- und Sicherheitstechnik B.W. GmbH in 2026.[26]
In 2023, Scutum acquired several international subsidiaries of the TEB Group, including TEB Ibérica in Spain and TEB Polska in Poland.[22] The transaction marked the company's entry into the Spanish, Portuguese and Polish markets.[27]
In Spain, the company integrated APT Instalaciones, Grupo SEA and Kosmos Group before launching Scutum Iberia in 2025.[28] · [29]
In Italy, Scutum established operations in 2024 through the acquisition of Multiprotexion S.r.l. and its subsidiaries, including I.T.S. S.r.l.[18] Multiprotexion had previously acquired I.T.S. S.r.l., a company active in security systems.[30]
In 2026, the group acquired Elettron Srl, a company based in Brescia that designs, installs and maintains security and fire protection systems.[31] · [32]
Expansion in North America
[edit]In 2020, Scutum entered the North American market through the acquisition of High Rise Fire & Security, a company providing fire protection and remote monitoring services in New York. At the time of the acquisition, High Rise served more than 1,900 high-rise buildings and operated monitoring centres approved by the New York City Fire Department for commercial fire alarm monitoring.[33] · [34]
In 2021, the company acquired Statewide Central Station, a provider of central station monitoring services approved by the New York City Fire Department to process commercial fire alarms in New York City.[35] · [36]
In 2023, Scutum acquired Forest Security, Inc. and Thompson Electronics Company, an Illinois-based provider of electronic security and fire alarm systems.[37]
In 2024, the company acquired Affordable Alarm and Monitoring Inc. (AAMI) in Florida and Visentry, a New Jersey-based company providing AI-supported remote guarding services.[38] · [39]

[edit]Scutum provides services to organisations of different sizes, including small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and multinational companies. Its customers operate in sectors including banking, retail, logistics, healthcare and critical infrastructure, such as data centres, nuclear power plants, energy facilities, historic monuments and UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Electronic security, fire safety and security systems
[edit]The company designs, installs and maintains electronic security and fire protection systems. Its activities include video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, fire detection and fire suppression systems.[1]
Remote monitoring and related services
[edit]Scutum operates several remote monitoring centres (Alarm Receiving Centres) in Europe and North America. These centres provide continuous monitoring of connected sites, alarm management and alarm verification services.[10]
Several of the group's monitoring centres in France hold APSAD P5 certification.[40]
Other activities
[edit]The group also provides cybersecurity services through its subsidiaries. Through Scutum Security First (SSF), it also operates in international risk management (Travel Risk Management) and the protection of expatriate personnel. Several entities are certified to ISO 9001:2015 for quality management and ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management. Scutum Security First (SSF) is certified to ISO 27001:2022 for information security management.
In France, the group's remote monitoring and fire protection activities hold APSAD certifications, while subsidiaries in the United Kingdom hold NSI Gold and BAFE certifications for security and fire detection systems.[40]

[edit]Scutum Group is organised around a holding company, Scutum SA, and operational subsidiaries in the countries where it operates.[41] The company is controlled by Franck Namy.[43]
In 2026, Goldman Sachs Alternatives acquired a minority stake in Scutum Group, while the Namy family remained the majority shareholder. According to CFNEWS, the transaction formed part of a new leveraged buyout (LBO), with Goldman Sachs Alternatives investing through Goldman Sachs Asset Management.[44]
