The SCP-5 (also referred to as the Qaswa Hardnose Penetrator SCP-5) is an indigenous bunker buster bomb developed by Global Industrial Defence Solutions (GIDS) for the Pakistan Air Force (PAF). It is designed explicitly to destroy heavily reinforced structures, subsurface fortifications, concrete command centers, and hardened aircraft shelters.
Design and Capabilities
[edit]The SCP-5 utilizes a hardened kinetic nose penetrator configured within a standard (PK-82) bomb form factor template. It maximizes penetration capabilities via aerodynamic acceleration and kinetic energy gained through precise ballistic diving trajectories.
Key technical characteristics include:
- Hardened Shell: A heavy, specialized alloy casing designed to structurally survive high-velocity impacts with reinforced concrete without shattering prematurely.
- Explosive Filling: It features a dynamically stable explosive compound formulated to resist accidental detonation upon severe physical impact, allowing the payload to remain intact until penetration is achieved.
- Delayed Fuze: Employs a smart, delayed-action tail fuze optimized to trigger detonation only after the bomb has breached the upper concrete barrier, maximizing internal damage.
Deployment
[edit]The weapon system is cleared for operation across frontline strike fighters of the Pakistan Air Force, including the CAC/PAC JF-17 Thunder.
