Pratap Das (born August 19, 1993) is a Nepali playback singer and musical artist.[1] He finished as the second runner-up in the first season of the reality singing competition *Nepal Idol* in 2017.[2] Since then, he has recorded music for Nepali cinema and independent singles across genres such as modern pop, romantic ballads, and traditional folk music.[1]
Early Life
[edit]Pratap Das was born in Jharuwarasi, Lalitpur, Nepal. He began singing during his childhood and participated in local school programs and community events before pursuing music professionally.[1]
Career
[edit]Nepal Idol (2017)
[edit]In 2017, Das auditioned for the inaugural season of Nepal Idol, the Nepali franchise of the Idol television format. He advanced through the selection rounds and reached the grand finale held in Doha, Qatar, where he finished as the second runner-up behind winner Buddha Lama and first runner-up Nishan Bhattarai.[2][3] Following the competition, Das participated in an international musical tour with the top finalists across major global cities.[4]
Playback and Independent Music
[edit]Following the competition, Das entered the Nepali film industry as a playback singer. In 2017, he performed the track "Motorcycle Ma" alongside Asmita Adhikari for the film Prem Geet 2.[5] The song received significant radio airplay and digital streams.[1] In 2018, he recorded "Phool Hoina" with Prabisha Adhikari for the soundtrack of the film Rose.[6][7]
Aside from film music, Das regularly releases independent non-film singles. His notable releases include the solo tracks "Chahanchhu" and "Photo Firimma", as well as collaborative duets such as "Soltini Ukhumai Manparyo" with Shanti Shree Pariyar and "Numbari Sun" with Annu Chaudhary.[8]
