MF Copernicus is a ropax ferry operated by POLSCA Baltic Ferries on the Gdańsk - Karlshamn line.

Namesake

The ship is named after XVI century Polish astronomer and polymath Mikołaj Kopernik (Nicolaus Copernicus). She is the third Polish ferry to pay tribute to Kopernik, after MF Mikołaj Kopernik (1974), and MF Kopernik (1977, now MF Smyrna di Levante) which she replaced on the Świnoujście - Trelleborg route in 2018.

History

Copernicus was built in 1995 by Fincantieri as Puglia for Tirrenia . She sailed on the Mediterranean Sea. In 2017, she was chartered to Moby Lines for the Piombino - Olbia route.^[1] She underwent a rebuilt in 2018, increasing her passenger capacity from 50 to 160. In ownership of Euro Africa Shipping, she operated under the Unity Line brand from 2018 on the Świnoujście - Trelleborg route. In 2026, following the merger of Unity Line and Polferries into POLSCA Baltic Ferries, she plied the same route with her new operator. From July 2026 she runs on the Gdańsk - Karlshamn line.^[2]
