Jubed Hossen Jiya is a Bangladeshi youth organizer, student leader, and social activist from Osmaninagar, Sylhet. He currently serves as the Divisional Head of Fund Collection for the Osmaninagar Upazila Youth Red Crescent Society. Born on June 8, he passed his SSC examination in 2025 and is currently an intermediate second-year student.
Activism and Social Work
[edit]Jiya was actively involved in the 2024 Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, mobilizing local students and citizens in various areas, including Sylhet and Sherpur. Following the movement, from August 8 to August 20, 2024, he led volunteer initiatives for cleaning and traffic management in Goalabazar and Tajpur Bazar. During the administrative strike, he led efforts to guard the Osmaninagar Police Station and maintain public order in the upazila. After the resumption of police activities, he and other student coordinators welcomed the returning police officers to assist in restoring normalcy.[1]
During the 2024 floods in northeastern Bangladesh, Jiya coordinated relief efforts to rescue flood-affected people in Osmaninagar, safely moving them to shelters and arranging food supplies.
In April 2025, he mobilized local students to seize illegal sand-dredging boats operating on the Kushiyara River near the Osmaninagar border, subsequently handing them over to the local administration and military authorities to prevent environmental degradation and riverbank erosion.[2][3] He also actively participates in government-led initiatives, including the Upazila Disaster Risk Reduction Day awareness programs.
