Indranil Sarkar (born 3 December 1975), also credited as Indraneel Sarkar, is an Indian film director, cinematographer and screenwriter from Kolkata, West Bengal, known primarily for his documentary films. His work includes Minority Diary (on the history of religious communities in Bengal), The Worker documentary series, and the 2018 feature film Daniel's Diary.[1][2]
Early life and education
[edit]Sarkar was born in Kolkata on 3 December 1975 to Bibhuti Sarkar and Susmita Sarkar. He studied at St. Lawrence High School, Kolkata, graduating in 1992, before attending St. Xavier's College, Kolkata (graduating 1996) and Jadavpur University (1998).[a]
Career
[edit]Sarkar started out as a cinematographer in the early 2000s and moved into directing soon after. Most of his work has been short films and documentaries shown at festivals in and around Kolkata, along with one feature film and several documentaries that got national press coverage.
