Igloo Music (also known as Igloo Music Studios) is an American audio post-production and music recording company based in Burbank, California. Founded in 2000 by Gustavo Borner, the company specializes in film and television score mixing, ADR, voice-over recording, sound design, and English-language dubbing for streaming services.[1][2]
History
[edit]Igloo Music was founded by Gustavo Borner, who began working in Los Angeles recording studios in 1989 before establishing his own facility.[1] The company has since expanded to multiple facilities in Burbank's media district, including dedicated locations for music mixing and dubbing production.[2]
Services and notable work
[edit]Igloo Music's engineering team has worked on the audio post-production and score mixing for a number of major theatrical releases, including La La Land (2016).[3] According to a 2017 feature in Sound on Sound, the film's final music mixes were completed at Igloo Music's Studio D by engineer Nicholai Baxter, with studio owner Gustavo Borner credited with originating the "vintage plus" sonic approach used to blend the film's homage to classic Hollywood musicals with a modern mix.[3]
Igloo Music was also used to record vocal prerecords for A Complete Unknown (2024), the Bob Dylan biopic starring Timothée Chalamet. According to a 2025 feature in Mix magazine, prerecords for the film's band performances were tracked by executive music producer Nick Baxter, with vocals recorded at Igloo Music Studio.[4]
Since the mid-2010s, the company has also become an active provider of English-language dubbing for foreign-language film and television series distributed on streaming platforms, and has been identified in academic research as one of the studios involved in Netflix's English-dubbing production strategy.[5]
