Ian Khan is a Canadian futurist, media personality, keynote speaker, author, and documentary filmmaker.[1][2] His work focuses on artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and the energy industry.[3] Khan was shortlisted for the Thinkers50 Future Readiness Award in 2025.[4]
Career
[edit]Khan developed the Future Readiness Score, a framework for assessing organizational readiness, which has been featured in Fast Company Turkey.[5][6]
He created, hosts, and executive produces The Futurist, a documentary series distributed on Amazon Prime Video in over 45 countries.[7] The series features interviews with figures including Lord Adair Turner (former Chairman of the UK Financial Services Authority), Paul Polman (former CEO of Unilever), Daniela Rus (Director of MIT CSAIL), Erik Brynjolfsson (Stanford economist), Ben Goertzel (founder of SingularityNET), Naveen Jain (billionaire entrepreneur and founder of Viome), Omani Carson (billionaire investor and founder of the Carson Group), Juan and Jeronimo Bremmer (Spanish billionaire investors), Ricardo Santa Cruz (Mexican real estate billionaire), and actor Chris Tucker. He also hosts The Futurist Podcast, available on over 25 platforms, through which he has interviewed more than 500 executives and industry leaders.
His documentary Blockchain City (2018) features interviews with Grammy Award winner Imogen Heap, Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin, and Wikipedia co-founder Larry Sanger.[8] Other documentary films include The Future of Work and The Bitcoin Dilemma (2021).[1][2]
Khan is a founding participant in the GX (Government Experience) initiative under the Prime Minister's Office of the United Arab Emirates.[9] He has worked in the Middle East region on and off for over 25 years. He has delivered TEDx talks at TEDxWilmington, TEDxMississauga, and TEDxChathamKent.[10] Khan serves as a lecturer in the Industry 4.0 Global Executive Post-Graduate Program at Wrocław University of Economics and Business in Poland.[11] He is the founder of Impact Story Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on AI and robotics education for K-12 students.

His books include Metaverse for Dummies (Wiley, 2023).[14] Khan collaborated on After Shock, in which he was profiled as a contributor. His book Undisrupted: Leadership Essentials on Business Transformation, Profitability and Future Readiness (Wiley, 2025) reached #46 on the USA Today bestseller list[15] and appeared on the Publishers Weekly bestseller list.[16]
Recognition
[edit]In 2025, Khan was shortlisted for the Thinkers50 Future Readiness Award alongside thinkers including Amy Webb, Jane McGonigal, and Rita McGrath.[4]
Undisrupted received the bronze medal at the 2025 North American Book Awards in the Business Leadership category[17] and won the International Impact Book Awards.[18]
In 2026, Playboy Germany named Khan one of their "Menschen 2026" (People of 2026), a list of ten personalities expected to shape the year, alongside figures such as Sylvester Stallone and Gavin Newsom.[19]
