Gourinath is an Indian writer, editor, and socio-cultural activist who has worked in Hindi and Maithili for over 35 years.[1][2][3] He began writing fiction with a short story published in 1991 in the Hans Magazine. His first book, a collection of short stories titled Nach Ke Baahar, was released in 2002. His career began as a sub-editor at a newspaper. From October 1997 to October 2006, he served as an assistant editor at Hans magazine (historically edited by Rajendra Yadav). Since November 2006, he has been the editor of Baya,[4] a Hindi magazine published by Antika Prakashan. Additionally, he is the editor of the Maithili magazine Antika,[5] the director of Antika Prakashan Pvt Ltd, and the chairman and trustee of Kosi Pratishthan.
Gourinath's notable works include the Hindi novel Karbala Dar Karbala[6][7][8][9][10] and the Maithili novel Daag. His body of work encompasses novels, short stories,[11][12] essays, and memoirs, as well as numerous edited publications. Karbala Dar Karbala was also published in Urdu by 'Aaj Ki Kitaben' in Karachi. He is actively involved in projects related to water and rivers in the Kosi region through Kosi Pratishthan, Kalikapur, Supaul, Bihar.

Early Life and Career
[edit]Gourinath was born in Kalikapur, located in the Kosi region of Supaul District, Bihar. He did his schooling at Government Middle school, Laxminiya. He finished his matriculation in Supaul and obtained his intermediate degree from Bhagalpur. While attending Saharsa College for his undergraduate studies, he began his writing career. He completed his post-graduation at R.K. College, Madhubani (Mithila University) in 1995.
In September 1995, Gourinath moved to Delhi to advance his career, starting as a sub-editor at the newspaper 'Kuber Times,' where he worked for one and a half years. He then served as an assistant editor at Hans magazine for the next ten years. In 1999, while working at Hans, he launched the Maithili magazine 'Antika.' Since November 2006, he has been the founder editor of 'Baya' and has taken on the roles of director at Antika Prakashan Pvt Ltd, as well as chairman and trustee of Kosi Pratishthan.
