The Irish born, London-based Enda Mulloy was a founding member of The BibleCode Sundays a band often described as Celtic rock, folk music or rock music. Their sound fused influences from a mixture of traditional Irish instruments and contemporary rock back line.
History
[edit]Enda Mulloy was a founding member of the band The BibleCode Sundays (formerly known as Slainte). Slainte were voted "Best Band on the London Circuit".[1] 2006 in The Irish World awards.
The band released a total of six albums but following the sudden and tragic death of drummer Carlton Hunt.[2] the band decided to stop recording any more new music.
On 14 January 2019, the band announced via their Facebook page that lead singer Ronan MacManus was leaving the band to pursue a "quieter more family orientated life". That said, the band still continued to perform live without him. In October 2020 the singer Sting invited Enda to play at his 28th wedding anniversary of his marriage to actress and producer Trudie Styler at his villa in Tuscany. Sting handed Enda his personal bass guitar to play. Together, they played for the invited audience.[3]
Enda cites the both the covid lockdown lock and band decision to cease recording as the impetus to start recording his own music. His first solo single, Batten The Hatches Down was released in early 2022. He has however since announced that the Biblecode Sundays plan to start recording once again with Ronan MacManus in the near future[4]. The forthcoming album will be called Rainbow Frogs in Midlife Crisis [5]
Background
[edit]Enda was born in Mulranny in County Mayo, Ireland. His father and his uncles were the principle members of the Mulloy Brothers. At the age of 14 he started playing in the family band and even toured the USA with them, he recalls that the principle of the school granted him permission because "he was a nice guy". Injury prevented him from pursuing his career as a carpenter. In the 1990's he decided to move to west London and eventually ended up teaching carpentry and English at an institute of further education.
He is a father to two boys.
