Desert Doc is an American medical documentary television series featuring emergency physician Sudip Bose.[1]
The series follows Bose and other medical professionals working at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas, and documents emergency medical cases and trauma care in West Texas.[2][3]
Premise
[edit]The series documents emergency medical care in West Texas, including serious injuries, trauma cases and other medical emergencies. Episodes also address specific subjects including the opioid crisis, humanitarian medical work and Bose's experiences as a U.S. Army combat physician during the Iraq War. Episode 3, "The 5th Vital Sign", focuses on the opioid crisis, while episode 4, "Mission of Mercy", follows Bose and a group of Texas Tech University physicians on a medical mission to an isolated village across the Mexican border. Episode 13, "The War Tapes", features footage from Bose's 15-month service as a frontline physician in Iraq.
Production and release
[edit]The series was produced over a period of more than five years and was made without reenactments, according to a March 2024 release announcement.[4] It was released in the United States on March 17, 2024, and became available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.[5]
