Characters Welcome is a live sketch comedy showcase performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade in New York and Los Angeles.
History
[edit]Founded by Michael Hartney and Justin Tyler in 2013[1] as a means for comedians to workshop solo material for their Saturday Night Live and Just for Laughs auditions, the show is now hosted by Hartney and Tyler alongside Eric Feurer and Sarah Smallwood Parsons.[2] Each character is typically written and performed by one comedian, and introduced by the hosts with a title card.
In 2019, videos of performances from Characters Welcome began attracting a following on YouTube, receiving write-ups in Vulture[3][4] and over 260,000 subscribers by 2026.[5]
