Cesar Gueikian is an Armenian-Argentine, naturalized American business executive, investor, and musician. He is best known for his leadership at Gibson, Inc., the American manufacturer of guitars and other musical instruments, where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer from 2023 to 2026 after previously holding several executive positions within the company.[1][2][3][4]
Early Life and Education
[edit]Gueikian was born in Argentina to an Armenian family.[5] He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of San Andrés in Buenos Aires before completing a MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where he concentrated on analytical finance and economics.[6][7]
Career

[edit]Gueikian began his career in investment banking and private equity, holding senior positions at Deutsche Bank and later at UBS, where he led the Special Situations and Leveraged Finance Capital Markets groups. His work focused on corporate finance, restructuring, and capital markets transactions.[8]
He later co-founded Melody Capital Partners, a private investment firm specializing in corporate financing and restructuring. During his tenure, the firm's assets under management grew from approximately US$100 million to more than US$1.5 billion.[9]
Gibson
[edit]Gueikian joined Gibson, Inc. in November 2018 as Chief Merchant Officer. He later became Brand President, overseeing product development, brand strategy, artist relations, marketing and media across the company's portfolio.[10]
During this period at Gibson, he launched several initiatives, including Gibson TV, Gibson Records and Gibson Labs, while increasing its direct-to-consumer activities and introducing new collaborations with artists and musicians.[11][12]
In May 2023, Gueikian was appointed interim President and Chief Executive Officer following a leadership transition. On July 10, 2023, Gibson's Board of Directors confirmed him as the company's permanent President and CEO.[13]
During his tenure as CEO, Gibson continued expanding collaborations with musicians, introduced new product releases across its Gibson, Epiphone, and Kramer brands, and increased its engagement with consumers through digital platforms and social media.[14][15][16]
In July 2026, Gibson announced that Gueikian would step down as President and Chief Executive Officer effective July 31, 2026. The company stated that he would remain a shareholder and continue serving as a member of its Board of Directors and ambassador with the artist community.[17]
Music
[edit]Alongside his business career, Gueikian has remained active as a guitarist, songwriter, and recording artist. He has collaborated with several musicians, including Slash and Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses on the song "I Can Breathe", and with Serj Tankian of System of a Down and Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath on "Deconstruction".[18][19][20][21]
