Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests
Welcome to Requested moves/Technical requests
If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request a technical move below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."
If you are here because you want an experienced editor to approve of your new article or proposed rename, you are in the wrong place.
- Make sure you really need technical assistance before making a request here. Because you are autoconfirmed, you can move most pages yourself. Even if the target page exists, you can sometimes move the page normally if the target is a redirect back to the source page and has 1 revision.
- If this is your first article and you want your draft article moved to the mainspace, please use the submission wizard to submit your draft or user sandbox page for review at Articles for creation instead of listing it here.
- If you need help determining whether it's okay to move the page to a different title, then please follow the instructions at the top of Wikipedia:Requested moves.
To list a technical request: the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection or click the big blue button and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Do not edit the article's talk page, just click the button below.
To request a reversion of a recent undiscussed move: Review the guidelines at WP:RMUM of whether a reversion of an undiscussed move qualifies as uncontroversial and if so, the Requests to revert undiscussed moves subsection or click the big blue button and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:
{{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}
Note that in some cases, clerks, such as administrators or page movers may determine that your request for a reversion does not pass the criteria and may move the request to the contested section or open a formal requested move discussion for potentially controversial moves on your behalf.
- If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
- If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page. A bot will automatically remove contested requests after 72 hours of inactivity.
If your request requires an administrator. Usually, do so if the page has been fully protected or move protected (see this guide to which moves need administrators).

[edit]- Jay Jay Garvi Gujarāt → Jai Jai Garavi Gujarat (currently a redirect back to Jay Jay Garvi Gujarāt) (move · discuss) – WP:COMMMONNAME and WP:CONSISTENT with Jai Jai Garavi Gujarat (song). — Hemant Dabral (📞 • ✒) 12:09, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- @Dreepy moved it back in January from Jai Jai Garavi Gujarat, from the original Jai Jai Garavi Gujarat (Poem) (dab was removed in-between those, and we have changed from "Garavi" to "Garvi"). Looks like the current title was based on Gujarati phonology, which I am in no position to interpret. Of the listed sources, only both JSTOR sources use "Jai Jai", and one uses "Garvi", the other "Garavi". ( and in that order). I don't see any uses of the macron in Gujarat so far, so that is probably safe to remove.
- It might help to have somebody more familiar with the transliteration weigh in here. ASUKITE 23:41, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
Requests to revert undiscussed moves
[edit]- Euro area crisis → Eurozone crisis (currently a redirect back to Euro area crisis) (move · discuss) – Restore the title at the original RM at Talk:Euro_area_crisis/Archive_2#Requested_Move in July 2013. Revert the previous undiscussed moves in 2024 and the one-editor non-RM proposal in 2014. And WP:CONSISTENT (WP:CONSUB) with Eurozone, and WP:COMMONNAME with Ngrams anyway. DankJae 16:18, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- The article has been moved away from Eurozone crisis over 12 years ago, so the time to revert as recent and undiscussed has in my opinion long passed. The article could still be moved boldly but given the long move history and RM I wouldn't feel comfortable doing so. If another page mover is, go for it, but otherwise please open a new RM by clicking the discuss link above. squawk7700 (talk) 20:08, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- Yes but the revert is to restore the consensus of a previous RM as opposed to a bold move ages ago without a RM consensus. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:04, 2 October 2026 (UTC)

- Assimi Goïta → Assimi Goita (currently a redirect back to Assimi Goïta) (move · discuss) – The article was disruptively moved without any consensus or discussion in 2020. Assimi Goita spells his surname without the French diacritic "ï", especially after Mali revoked French language's status in 2024. Assimi uses the spelling "Goita", not "Goïta" on his military uniform: 1, 2 etc. and also uses "Goita" his official X account. Pidgin Muivah (talk) 07:29, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
Contested technical requests
[edit]- Magician's Lantern → Laterna magika (currently a redirect back to Magician's Lantern) (move · discuss) – Per WP:COMMONNAME and the official name used by the National Theatre (narodni-divadlo.cz). "Magician's Lantern" is an unsourced mistranslation – Latin magica means "magic", not "magician's". Target is a redirect with history, so the move requires a page mover or admin. Polaromnivore (talk) 22:18, 30 September 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:UE. 162 etc. (talk) 06:47, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- Angströmquelle Karlsruhe → Karlsruhe Research Accelerator (move · discuss) – Synchroton was renamed in 2016. First paragraph needs minor changes I can make once the page is moved. Robschmok (talk) 13:24, 29 September 2026 (UTC)
- I cannot determine the common name because of the lack of sources. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 21:56, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- @Robschmok I tried also, did not find anything. That page has been unreferenced for a while, I'd almost support merging it to Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Ptwiki has some sources, but one is primary, the other dead, and the other two seem trivial (but might need a closer inspection). ASUKITE 23:53, 1 October 2026 (UTC)
- Tonite Let's All Make Love in London (film) → Tonite Let's All Make Love in London (currently a redirect instead to Tonite Lets All Make Love in London) (move · discuss) – Per WP:NCFILMDAB, this film does not share its title with any other topic on Wikipedia. An article with a similar, but not identical, title describes a soundtrack album. Masato.harada (talk) 14:08, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- I don't know if this falls under SMALLDETAILS. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 14:51, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- I'll bet that secondary-source usage (or not) of the apostrophe is inconsistent. Better to disambiguate both and have a two-item dabpage. 162 etc. (talk) 16:10, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- Phú Thọ (disambiguation) → Phú Thọ (currently a redirect instead to Phú Thọ province) (move · discuss) – Follow WP:UNIQUE. LOL369YT (talk) 08:34, 2 October 2026 (UTC)
- @LOL369YT Primary redirect is likely okay. This needs an RM. Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 00:08, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
- IMO, this is uncontroversial. Cheromaniii (talk) 08:16, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
- Why exactly do you believe this is uncontroversial? Thanks! —1isall (talk | contribs) 12:50, 3 October 2026 (UTC)
