This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list below. Scope This Wikiproject is aimed at creating a greater consistency among the law-related articles. Key areas of concern include consistency in defining concepts across multiple jurisdictions and proper categorization of articles. The common law It is vital that we create a comprehensive explanation of the common law, which is shared by most English-speaking countries. The common law is clearly divisible into a number of key areas, each of which should be tackled and developed in turn. These areas are: Contract law Tort law Property law, including Real property, Wills and Trusts Criminal law Public law Evidence Civil codes Equally vital is a comprehensive explanation of the most widespread type of law, law based on civil code. The categories of civil code often have complete one-to-one equivalents in common law, but the major areas are generally classified by one of two systems: Institutional System of the Roman jurist Gaius: Law of Persons (personae) Law of Things (res) Issues common to both parts (actiones). Pandectist System: General part Law of Obligation Law of Real Rights Family Law Law of Inheritance Each of these areas contains a wide array of long-established but nuanced doctrines, and each has a complex and ultimately fascinating history - making this a particularly worthy project for Wikipedia to conquer! The Philosophy of law A joint effort that can be undertaken between this project and WikiProject Philosophy is to improve the quality of articles concerned with the philosophical questions about law itself.
